This is a program designed to deliver ongoing support to our new teachers by providing a mentor who works in the same field/building. The role of a KEEP mentor is to encourage, challenge, inspire, and sustain educators in a career-long collaborative journey with Kalispell Public Schools. The duties of a KEEP mentor is to share school specific norms, locate information/people, provide non-evaluative observation opportunities, and build a trusting relationship with his or her mentee. A mentor needs to be approachable and create time in his or her schedule to meet with their mentee on a regular basis. KEEP mentors are paid to work 20 hours outside of contracted time.
How to Become a Mentor Any certified teacher and/or specialist who has been tenured in our district has the opportunity to become a mentor. It is a great opportunity to build professional relationships and grow as a teacher leader. We are always looking to add mentors to our program. If you are interested in this role, please contact your administrator and the Mentor Program Director.
